Government Affairs
State and Federal Collaboration
The West Basin Municipal Water District mission is to provide a safe and reliable supply of high-quality water to the communities we serve.
West Basin actively engages in government affairs activities to represent the interests of the District and the numerous communities it serves. West Basin monitors and evaluates proposed legislation and regulations with potential impacts on the District and local communities. Each year, West Basin utilizes the Briefing Book to educate elected officials on current priorities and programs, with the Annual Legislative & Regulatory Priorities helping guide the district's state, federal, and local government affairs efforts.

West Basin Legislators of the Year
In 2007, West Basin Municipal Water District implemented a program to recognize members of the California State Legislature for their support and action on water related issues of interest to the District. In 2008, the program was expanded to honor both state legislators and members of Congress. West Basin’s annual Legislator of the Year Award encourages members of the California State Legislature and the United States Congress to engage on water legislation and policy matters, and provides recognition and appreciation for their efforts.
