NOW is the time to replace non-essential grass with water-wise landscapes BEFORE the 2027 California ban on irrigating non-functional grass with drinking water goes into effect.

Take advantage this rebate starting at $4 per sq. ft. with expanded resources for businesses and public agencies.

Expanded resources for public agencies and business include larger project sizes, free landscape design valued at up to $5,000 to envision a new landscape, and rebate application assistance to help secure necessary funding for the project.

To support “water-wise” sustainable practices, West Basin continues to provide incentives for those who are ready to create a more sustainable drought-tolerant landscape. The
Grass Replacement Program for Businesses and Public Agencies offers increased incentives for transforming publicly owned spaces in the West Basin service area.

Which public agencies are eligible?

Eligible public agencies include “any federal, state, regional, or local government entity, agency or department, including any special district, joint powers authority, city, county, or other political subdivision of the State located within West Basin's service area.”  Also included are schools and non-profit organizations.

Which businesses are eligible?

Eligible businesses include all businesses such as "sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability companies (LLC), corporations or cooperatives, and goods/retailers and services located within West Basin's service area."

What type of projects are eligible?

Eligible projects can range from 250 square feet up to 200,000 square feet for a maximum $1,400,000 rebate value. Examples of publicly owned spaces include city-owned landscapes, parks, and schools.
