If you missed it the first time, West Basin is relaunching the Parkway Beautification Program - a chance for eligible service area residents to transform their grass parkway into a water-efficient garden for free!
You heard that right, get rid of the grass and let West Basin revamp your parkway at no cost to you.
That narrow strip of landscape between the sidewalk and the street is one of the first things people see outside a home. Parkways may seem small, but grass in these areas can be a major source of needless water use and runoff. By converting them into climate-appropriate, drought-tolerant gardens, you can help conserve water, reduce sidewalk runoff and pollution while enhancing your home’s curbside appeal, increasing your property’s value and elevating the appearnce of your neighborhood.
Through this program and grant funding, West Basin offers professional parkway design services, installation of water-efficient plants and landscape materials, and a maintenance guide for maintaining your new low-maintenance garden. Participants can choose from several design template options tailored to complement a variety of styles and curbside settings.
West Basin completed a successful pilot phase of this program last year, helping dozens of households transform their parkways into attractive, sustainable spaces. Now, the program is expanding to serve more community members.
