West Basin Transitions to ".gov" Website Domain

Post Date:08/01/2025

In an enhanced effort toward increased online security and public trust, West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin) has transitioned its website domain to WestBasinCA.gov. This new address aligns with federal recommendations and California law to increase public trust, improve security and clearly identify the District as an official government entity.

As a trusted regional water provider, West Basin joins a growing number of public agencies making the move to the highly secure .gov domain. This transition also ensures West Basin complies with California State Assembly Bill No. 1637, which requires local governments to adopt a .gov domain by January 1, 2029, and reflects West Basin’s ongoing commitment to transparency, cybersecurity and service to the public.

To maximize user-friendly navigation, the previous website domain WestBasin.org will be automatically redirected to the new address WestBasinCA.gov. While existing links for the District’s website pages will continue to function as usual, the public is encouraged to update saved web links and begin to navigate to the new address when looking for information on the West Basin website.

West Basin’s staff email addresses have also migrated to the .gov domain to match the updated website. The adoption of the new domain name in e-mail communications will make it easier for people to verify legitimate messages from West Basin officials.
